Trap Spacing: When trapping for more than one species of moth, separate traps for different moth species by at least 20 meters (65 feet).
Method Notes: 3/13/2019: Beginning in 2019, large plastic delta traps are approved traps for negative data reporting. Delta trap color or wing trap material (paper or plastic) is up to the State and does not affect trap efficacy for this species.
The wing trap is available in a plastic or paper version; either type may be used for this target.

Survey Recommendations
The following are recommendations for executing the survey using the approved methods for pest surveillance. The recommendations are developed through literature review and consultation with subject matter experts.
Key Diagnostic or Identification
Approved Method(s)
ID/Diagnostic: Final identification requires dissection of male or female genitalia.
Mistaken Identities: Domestic species: Chilo plejadellus are similar except the adults have metallic gold scales on the forewings and the larvae have five parallel stripes running the length of the back. Chilo partellus adults do not have metallic gold scales and the larvae have four parallel stripes.
Exotic species: see datasheet.
